The program, introduced in 2012, has been criticised for being too strict and is used in many schools around Australia. Loading Mr Nanjiani described Safe Schools as "ridiculous" and "a bunch of lies", claiming it was "an indoctrination program for 5 to 13-year-old children designed to convince them that they are born in the wrong body and that they can and should change it" in a Facebook post. "Anyone who is young enough to identify as LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Questioning), is old enough to stop being a child," Mr Nanjiani wrote. "They're probably old enough to stop doing things that are stupid if they don't want to anymore, so why don't you just ask your kid why they're in here?" In a follow-up post, the stand-up comedian praised a high school teacher who had resigned from a school because of the program. "Thank you for being a brave and strong teacher," he wrote.
